Network Settings

The SpyHunter 5 "Network/System Protection" feature is designed to protect certain system networking settings, and prevent malicious objects from modifying and disrupting your Internet connection. To access the "Network" tab, click the "Settings" tab and then click the "Network" tab.

The "Network" tab contains several settings (click on a link to navigate to the topic):

  • HOSTS File Monitor (1)
  • System Protection (2)
  • LSP Chain Protection (3)
  • Clock Format Protection (4) - When this option is checked, SpyHunter protects the Windows setting that configures how the clock will be formatted. Malware has been known to modify these settings. Before a change to the Windows clock format setting is applied, SpyHunter 5 will prompt you with a dialog asking you to confirm the change. This dialog will show the old and new clock format.
  • Internet Proxy Protection (5) - When enabled, this setting monitors Windows Internet proxy settings and will prompt you if any application attempts to change the proxy settings (for example, to re-route traffic through a malicious proxy to intercept data).

Proxy Settings Configuration

The Network tab also allows users to configure SpyHunter to direct its communications through a proxy. This feature may be required if you access the Internet from behind a corporate firewall. Please consult your network administrator or IT department for proxy settings, if applicable.

Users that are not using SpyHunter in a corporate environment will generally not need to modify these settings.
