Smart Defragmenter is a rogue computer defragmenter and optimization application that comes from the FakeSysDef family. Smart Defragmenter is secretly installed onto a machine by sneaky Trojans and will create a start-up registry entry to ensure that Smart Defragmenter loads each time the system is started up. When inside a PC, Smart Defragmenter will disable certain executable files and simulate a scan for the hard drives and memory. The scan will report the detection of numerous system errors and then advise the victim to purchase the full version of Smart Defragmenter in order to fix the errors. The error alerts displayed by Smart Defragmenter are fake and users should never purchase this rogue application.
There are countless rogue computer defragmenter and optimization programs plaguing the Internet. Among Smart Defragmenter family members are System Defragmenter, Ultra Defragger, HDD Control, Win HDD, Win Defrag, Win Defragmenter, Disk Doctor, Hard Drive Diagnostic, HDD Diagnostic, HDD Plus, HDD Repair, HDD Rescue, Smart HDD, Defragmenter, HDD Tools, Disk Repair, Windows Optimization Center, Scanner, HDD Low, Hdd Fix.
