Moviesm

Moviesm is a browser extension that claims to help users find and watch movies and TV shows whenever and wherever they desire. While such functionality is definitely going to appeal to users, installing Moviesm reveals an entirely different picture. The application has barely any useful features and its main focus seems to be the delivery of annoying and intrusive advertisements. As a result, Moviesm is classified as adware.

Apart from becoming a frequent distraction, the advertisements generated by adware could promote various questionable or even unsafe destinations, services and software products. Users could see advertisements leading to phishing schemes, technical support frauds, dubious free giveaways, platforms spreading PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs), shady adult pages, etc.

While installed on the users' device, PUPs also may collect various information. Typically, these applications monitor the users' browsing activities, but they also may harvest numerous device details. In some cases, the installed PUP also has been observed trying to extract account credentials, banking info, payment numbers, and credit/debit card numbers saved in the affected browser's autofill data.
