Personal Security

Personal Security Description

ScreenshotPersonal Security or PersonalSecurity, is a rogue security application out to trick users out of their money. Security Doesn't Let You Download SpyHunter or Access the Internet?

Solutions: Your computer may have malware hiding in memory that prevents any program, including SpyHunter, from executing on your computer. Follow to download SpyHunter and gain access to the Internet:
  • Use an alternative browser. Malware may disable your browser. If you're using IE, for example, and having problems downloading SpyHunter, you should open Firefox, Chrome or Safari browser instead.
  • Use a removable media. Download SpyHunter on another clean computer, burn it to a USB flash drive, DVD/CD, or any preferred removable media, then install it on your infected computer and run SpyHunter's malware scanner.
  • Start Windows in Safe Mode. If you can not access your Window's desktop, reboot your computer in "Safe Mode with Networking" and install SpyHunter in Safe Mode.
  • IE Users: Disable proxy server for Internet Explorer to browse the web with Internet Explorer or update your anti-spyware program. Malware modifies your Windows settings to use a proxy server to prevent you from browsing the web with IE.

Just removed this – I didn’t use the uninstall, as I wouldn’t trust it. Just pressed Ctrl-Alt-Del as Windows opened and I got access to the Task Manager and stopped PS running. Deleted all files manually – deleting the whole folder in Programs got rid of most, but there were still .dlls and register files lurking. I still have a dodgy looking entry in the register (all numbers by itself, not in a sub-folder)that I shall look at later.
    Everything looking OK now.

The program doesn’t let you download any software. We sent a message to the company that created Personal Security on the “customer service” link that we would track them down and sue them for attacking our kids computer. They emailed this solution and it worked in less than one minute. We still downloaded and ran an antispyware program afterwards to make sure nothing remained. This was their response which worked: Hello, try this way:Open My Computer folder, press F3 button, choose “find files and folders” and type the file name “Uninstall.lnk”Run the Uninstall file.Reboot your computer. After that our product will be removed. • Michelle :

    Michael D,
Thanks for the instructions on how to remove this phony program. This bug was installed on our laptop while viewing the pictures of Serena Williams after winning the Australian Open over the weekend. We were about to take it into a computer shop and pay up to $150 to get this trash removed. Thanks to you I was able to remove this bug, run a comprehensive scan of the system and locate all other items that were left behind by this program. No way were we going to pay a registration fee to remove a program we didn’t ask for.

    Thanks Again :-)

  • Gary:

    Thanks Michael Ditkowsky it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jennifer:

I recently purchased your program SpyHunter and so far have been successful with removing personal security. However, I was one of the unfortunate individuals dumb enough to actually pay money for personal security. Now, I have no idea how to get that money back. What can I do? I have already emailed the address the company gave me and have also called their 800 number. No luck with that.

  • john:

I got the personal sercurity virus it got removed from the computer but when i open up internet explorer open a web page the personal security red flag blocks and redirects me back to their web site. Do you have answers on how to fix this? if so please email me. Thank you Please help if can.

  • Lin :

My poor OAP mother has just been scammed by this. She paid her money and it seems that the credit card company can’t help her get her money back. I’m trying to sort it out for her but it’s not looking good. I’m just looking at an email she forwarded to me that they sent. It includes an apology, a link to download the software and an activation code!! I won’t put the links up just incase someone accidently follows them.

I did do a website once which petitioned against a ticket company called getmetickets.net. They ripped people off by selling tickets they didn’t have. They were on watchdog etc. The site brought it to the full attention of the Trading Standards Agency in the UK and the directors were prosecuted, the company put into receivership.

  • linda:

What actions should be taken if I “purchased” the Personal Security?

  • Levi B:

Thank you Michael for the easy instructions. It took Malwarebytes over 70 minutes on my computer and it was still going on before I found this site on Youtube.

As an attorney I get let this kind of injustice carry and and have hired a group to get this “company” taken care of.

  • Brian Gibson:

I figured out how to fix this problem so I never get this malware/spyware program on my computer ever again. I bought a MAC and love it.

  • Wendi:

Thanks Michael Ditkowsky!! I think I removed this nasty from my computer with your instructions you posted. Thank you thank you thank you!

I have a big trouble on how to remove this personal security in my computer. it really destroy my file and i cant even download anything. Please help me solve this problem. I hope you have aresponse soon. thank.

  • Lee:

Thank you very much. I didn’t get a reply from “Personal Security”. It was removed on the 1st try.

  • Val:

The only way I’ve been able to remove the Personal Security Virus is by booting up in safe mode and selecting a RESTORE point 2 or 3 months ago and then deleting everything in TEMP folder and IE history!

  • Chris:

I caught it as it was attempting to install on my computer. The file that was trying to “run” was setup_40s4[1].exe and was found in the Temporary Internet Files folder. I’m sure that the part of the name after the “setup_” is random garbage. I was able to delete that file eventually but I got some screen captures of the dialog boxes and warnings as it was trying to get on my computer. Malwarebytes AntiMalware. Get it from a clean computer, move it to the infected computer with a thumb drive and run it. It generally works. You may need to start your computer in safe mode (press F8 as you boot up from off). Good Luck!

  • Cipriano Vidales:

Thank you Michael D. I was able to remove Personal Security, but it was a lil to easy, it only took a sec. or two I think Caged Tech might have a point on it coming back. It probably didn’t remove it maybe it just put it in a dormant state. But any how thank you.

  • Jatin:

Person security has been installed on my computer and am not able to work at all. I did try the methods mentioned on your website but am not able to get rid of it. Still there is a folder of 1.30MB in my program files which I am not able to delete an my computer giving me contant trouble and am not able to work at all. pls. help.

  • CagedTech:

Michael: I’m surprised you got a reply from them. Not only do you have to delete Personal Security but it’s likely that you have to delete the malware that may have installed Personal Security in the first place. Malware can hide dormant until it’s triggered either by a certain time or date. So them saying: “Sometimes it takes more than one try to remove the product due to temporary technical difficulties, so please try to do it several times.”, it’s because you can expect for the program to reappear.

Also, malware such as trojans and rootkits can hide on the PC and remain undetected by some anti-spyware programs. Read this article on trojan rootkits that block or hide from security programs: /trojan-rootkit-gen-variants-block-security-applications/.

You should double check your PC and scan your PC with SpyHunter to check for any traces of malware.
