Win32/Heri

Win32/Heri is a threat detection used by certain anti-malware and security solutions. It denotes that something in the scanned file has triggered the heuristic detection of the security application. Heuristic analysis is a useful technique when it comes to identifying suspicious behavior that is likely to belong to an unknown malware threat. Unfortunately, these detections also often flag perfectly legitimate and safe files as potentially threatening, due to certain parts of their actions matching those often associated with threats.

Indeed, instances of Win32/Heri have been confirmed to be from video games and even the Google Chrome browser. As a result, seeing a security alert for a Win32/Heri threat may not, necessarily, mean that the user has become a victim of a cybercriminals' attack. Examine the flagged file carefully. Is it located in its proper folder and is it hidden in a strange destination on the system? Check its size and confirm that it is within the expected ranges. Confirm that its name matches exactly the legitimate one and doesn't deviate in the slightest from it.

If you find anything suspicious, then the Win32/Heri detection might have uncovered a malware threat. Keep in mind that although it may be unlikely, Win32/Heri could be associated with malware, such as Trojans, worms, backdoors, TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen, TROJ_BAMITAL.SMK, Mal/Zbot-AV and more.
