The Search.searchgmfs.com domain is utilized by Polarity Technologies Ltd. in conjunction with their product called 'Get Maps Fast.' The Get Maps Fast program is a published as a free browser extension that supports Google Chrome. The Get Maps Fast extension can be found on the Chrome Web Store under several names. Polarity has released several clones of 'Get Maps Fast' and uses clones of Search.searchgmfs.com to collect information on the Internet activity of Web surfers. The data is gathered by Polarity and sold to ad publishers and marketers. The flow of ad revenue is what keeps Polarity operational and its products free. The Get Maps Fast extension is observed to change the new tab settings in Chrome to Search.searchgmfs.com and request the following privileges:
- Read and change all your data on the websites you visit.
- Replace the page you see when opening a new tab.
- Manage your apps, extensions, and themes.
The Get Maps Fast program associated with Search.searchgmfs.com is identical to the MapsNT Extension, the Directions Mapper Extension and the Driving Directions Home Extensions which we covered earlier. Polarity is using Search.searchgmfs.com (including clones) and various browser extensions to reach out to as many Web surfers as possible and increase its ad revenue.
