The IPA Virus is one of the many variants of the Ukash ransomware Trojan that exist today. The initials IPA stand for International Police Association. The IPA Virus receives its name because its ransomware message impersonates an official message from this police organization. The IPA Virus uses typical ransomware techniques in order to convince inexperienced computer users to hand over their money. ESG security analysts have observed variants of the IPA Virus that infect computers belonging to most countries in Europe. Each variant uses a message written in a language corresponding to the infected computer's country. So far, our PC security researchers have uncovered variants of the IPA Virus infection in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Swedish and Greek, among many others. If your computer is blocked by a message that is supposedly being sent by the IPA, ESG security analysts strongly advise removing this threat from your computer with the help of reliable anti-malware program.
Like the many versions of the Ukash Virus, the IPA Virus will demand that the victim pay a fine using the Ukash money transfer service. Basically, the IPA Virus will claim that the victim's computer was involved in illegal activities, ranging from viewing illegal pornographic content to numerous copyright violations. The IPA Virus' message threatens the victim with a hefty fine and jail time unlee a one hundred Euro penalty is paid through the Ukash money transfer service. As long as a computer is infected with the IPA Virus, its contents will remain inaccessible. The IPA Virus blocks access to the infected computer's desktop and all Windows components. This is due to the actions of the Win32.LockScreen Trojan, a malware infection that is designed to prevent computer users from gaining access to the infected computer. Unfortunately, paying the IPA Virus' fine will not unblock your computer. Rather, it is more likely that criminals will simply take your money and leave the IPA Virus infection on your computer.

Removing an IPA Virus Infection
The main challenge that most computer users encounter when dealing with an IPA Virus infection is gaining access to the infected computer. While most anti-malware software can remove the IPA Virus, launching security programs installed on the infected computer can prove difficult. ESG security researchers advise using either Safe Mode, the command prompt, or an external start-up source in order to bypass the IPA Virus message and gain access to security programs installed on the infected computer.
