Illuminati Email Scam

Cybercriminals are using lure emails presented as recruitment for the Illuminati to take advantage of unsuspecting users. The Illuminati group has become a part of the mainstream culture and is a major actor in numerous conspiracy theories. Some people believe that the Illuminati have vast resources, control the world governments from the shadows, or possess other significantly more outlandish capabilities.

The emails disseminated as part of this scheme claim that users have the opportunity to join the Illuminati and solve not only all of their personal problems but help put a stop to the health and financial crises across the world. However, this offer to join the group will only be valid for a month, according to the lure messages. All recipients interested in accepting the invitation are instructed to contact the 'joinllluminati@qq.com' email address to receive further information.

It should be obvious that this is a rather low-effort attempt by con artists to exploit people desperate enough to accept any possible solution to their current problems. The likely end goal of the scheme is to ask the recipients to pay a 'membership' fee. Alternatively, the fraudsters could be conducting a phishing operation looking to obtain various private or sensitive details from users. Typically, this information includes phone numbers, account credentials, home addresses, banking details, etc.
