Webpushworld.com joins the countless other hoax websites that try to abuse the legitimate push notifications feature. Through various false scenarios and misleading messages, the page tries to convince users to click the displayed 'Allow' button without revealing its functionality. Indeed, Webpushworld.com will create different false impressions designed to hide that pressing the button will subscribe users to the page's push notifications.

The goal of the tricksters is to then abuse the browser permissions associated with the feature to run an intrusive advertising campaign and receive monetary gains in the process. One of the scenarios confirmed to be utilized by Webpushworld.com involves showing a progress bar that is stuck at a certain percentage. Users also will be shown a message similar to:

'Press 'Allow' to continue streaming'

Typically, the advertisements generated by such dubious sources are tasked with the promotion of similarly untrustworthy pages. Interacting with the advertisements also could trigger redirects to other online tactics, fake giveaways, shady adult-oriented platforms and more. It is not uncommon for the advertisements to contain offers for seemingly legitimate software products. However, upon installation, users often discover that the applications have hidden adware or browser hijacker functions.
