The Vari Ransomware is yet another addition to the ever-expanding family of the Djvu Ransomware variants. Every file encrypted by this threat will have ".vari" appended as a new extension to the original filename. A text file containing the note from the criminals named "_readme.txt" will be dropped in every folder containing encrypted data. 

In a departure from the nearly ubiquitous Bitcoin used for ransomware payments, the criminals behind the Vari Ransomware have decided to stick to traditional money, asking their victims to pay the sum of $980. In an effort to turn the offer more palatable, the hackers offer to slash the price in half if the affected users initiate contact within the first 72 hours. Two email addresses are provided for that purpose — the main address at helpmanager@mail.ch, and a reserve one at restoremanager@airmail.cc. The criminals also offer to decrypt one file for free.
