Tury Ransomware

Cybersecurity researchers are warning users about a new STOP/Djvu Ransomware variant. The threat is being tracked as the Tury Ransomware and although it lacks any significant improvements over the rest of the threatening variants from this family, it is still capable of causing massive damage to infected devices. By running an encryption routine on the system, the Tury Ransomware will lock a wide range of different file types - documents, PDFs, archives, databases and more. All encrypted files will have '.tury' appended to their original names.

The ransom note dropped by Tury also follows the established pattern observed in STOP/Djvu threats. The threat actors state that they are willing to provide a decryptor tool and the necessary decryption keys but only after receiving a $980 ransom payment from their victims. This initial amount will supposedly be reduced by 50% for those victims that establish contact within the first 72 hours. Two email addresses are mentioned in the note - 'support@fishmail.top' and 'datarestorehelp@airmail.cc.' As part of their message, victims can attach a single locked file to be decrypted for free by the hackers, as a demonstration of their ability to recover the encrypted data.

The full text of the ransom note delivered by the Tury Ransomware is:
