EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecard
EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards are assessment reports for different malware threats which have been collected and analyzed by our research team. EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards evaluate and rank threats using several metrics including real-world and potential risk factors, trends, frequency, prevalence, and persistence. EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards are updated regularly based on our research data and metrics and are useful for a wide range of computer users, from end users seeking solutions to remove malware from their systems to security experts analyzing threats.
EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards display a variety of useful information, including:
Ranking: The ranking of a particular threat in EnigmaSoft’s Threat Database.
Severity Level: The determined severity level of an object, represented numerically, based on our risk modeling process and research, as explained in our Threat Assessment Criteria.
Infected Computers: The number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular threat detected on infected computers as reported by SpyHunter.

The Trojan.Winwebsec family of malware contains dozens of bogus security applications, a kind of malware threat known as a rogue security program. These kinds of programs are also known as scareware due to their tactic of scaring inexperienced victims and convincing them that the purchase of a fake security application is necessary in order to solve nonexistent virus infections on their computer system. Malware in the Trojan.Winwebsec family of rogue anti-virus software can attack a computer system in a variety of ways and ESG security researchers consider that Trojan.Winwebsec applications pose a severe threat to a computer system. Because of this, a real, reliable, fully updated anti-malware program should be used to deal with the presence of a fake anti-virus in the Trojan.Winwebsec on your computer system.
Trojan.Winwebsec applications use interfaces that can be quite convincing, mimicking legitimate security programs by using professional-looking design and trademarked logos. However, behind this authentic-looking interface, Trojan.Winwebsec programs have no real anti-virus capabilities. The main role of these kinds of programs is creating alarming error messages and fake Taskbar pop-up notifications in order to make inexperienced computer users believe that their computer system is severely infected. Trojan.Winwebsec programs can also affect an infected computer system in other ways, including causing browser redirects, blocking certain applications and files, and causing the infected computer system to become slow, unresponsive or unstable.

An Overview of a Trojan.Winwebsec Infection
There are dozens of fake security products in the Trojan.Winwebsec family. This family of malware has been active continuously since 2009 and is regularly updated with new clones and versions of its fake security software. Examples of known Trojan.Winwebsec programs include rogue anti-virus software such as Antispyware Pro 2009, Security Shield, Winweb Security, Smart Fortress 2012, Essential Cleaner and Security Sphere 2012. Paying for any program in the Trojan.Winwebsec family of malware is not only a waste of money, it also makes your computer system more vulnerable to other attacks and places you at risk for identity theft and other possible scams. Malware in the Trojan.Winwebsec family can also make the infected computer system difficult to use due to their constant error messages and intrusive actions.
Due to the fact that Trojan.Winwebsec malware programs have been around for a long time, most security programs are able to handle these kinds of infections easily. However, Trojan.Winwebsec has some self-defense mechanisms that should be bypassed in order to remove Trojan.Winwebsec effectively. To do this, it is recommended to start up the infected computer system from an external memory source or in Safe Mode.
