Thecred.info is a dubious site designed to perform various online tactics. Depending on various factors, such as the user's IP address or geolocation, the site may show one tricking scenario, while others would be presented with another. It also should be noted that the page may be responsible for the appearance of unwanted redirects and pop-ups.
One manipulative behavior of the page involves showing an image of a robot and accompanying it with a message similar to 'Click 'Allow' if you are not a robot.' Users are left with the impression that they have to pass a CAPTCHA check, while in reality, this is all a ruse. The site simply wants to receive the browser permissions associated with the push notifications feature that will become enabled the moment users press the shown 'Allow' button.
Afterward, Thecred.info will be able to deliver annoying and intrusive advertisements to the affected users. The advertisements themselves may employ similar social-engineering tactics to lure users in and then take them to other untrustworthy pages. In fact, Thecred.info has been observed to cause redirects to a site named phonestar.info, which performs the same exact browser-based scheme.
Alternatively, Thecred.info also could run a 'Your PC is infected with Viruses' scheme. The site may show fake scan results and display false alerts that it tries to pass as legitimate Windows warnings, by including the Windows logo in them. This variant could be used to scare users into downloading a suspicious promoted application that may have adware or browser hijacker functionalities. The fraudsters also may use a real software product to try and earn illegitimate commissions for each sale.
