EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecard
EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards are assessment reports for different malware threats which have been collected and analyzed by our research team. EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards evaluate and rank threats using several metrics including real-world and potential risk factors, trends, frequency, prevalence, and persistence. EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards are updated regularly based on our research data and metrics and are useful for a wide range of computer users, from end users seeking solutions to remove malware from their systems to security experts analyzing threats.
EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards display a variety of useful information, including:
Ranking: The ranking of a particular threat in EnigmaSoft’s Threat Database.
Severity Level: The determined severity level of an object, represented numerically, based on our risk modeling process and research, as explained in our Threat Assessment Criteria.
Infected Computers: The number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular threat detected on infected computers as reported by SpyHunter.

The SmartTransaction application is designed to deliver unwanted advertisements to its users. As such, it is classified as adware. Furthermore, after analyzing it, cybersecurity experts have found enough similarities to conclude that SmartTransaction belongs to the AdLoad adware family. These applications are spread via questionable distribution methods (software bundles, fake installers, etc.) and target Mac users.
Having an adware application present on the system will have numerous negative consequences. First, the intruder application will start generating unwanted advertisements that could have a drastic impact on the quality of the user experience on the device. The advertisements also could exploit various clickbait or social engineering tactics to promote questionable or outright unsafe destinations, such as hoax websites, phishing pages, shady adult-oriented platforms and more. It is not uncommon for the advertisements delivered by adware to show users offers for additional PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) that are barely disguised as legitimate applications.
While all of this is going on, SmartTransaction could be siphoning various data from the system and transmitting it to its operators. PUPs are often observed to access various browsing information, as well as numerous device details. However, some can even try to extract potentially sensitive information that has been saved into the user's browsers. The data may include banking details, payment information and more.
