Issue Scanner Not Working

Scanner Not Working

Many Windows users have come face to face with the Scanner Not Working issue, and most likely, the problem occurred in the most inopportune moment. The underlying causes for this issue may be varied but there are several solutions that might be able to help.

Before proceeding, users must make sure that the devices have been set up correctly, the scanner is plugged in, and that the cables are in a satisfactory condition. If everything checks out, a good next step is to try and run the built-in Windows troubleshooter for this kind of problem. Type troubleshoot in the search box on the taskbar and open the top result. Scroll down through the options available in the new window and click on 'Additional troubleshooters.' Locate 'Printer,' select it and press the 'Run the troubleshooter' button.

If the scanner issue is still present, your Windows might not be up-to-date. To check if there are any new updates available, type windows update in the search box on the taskbar. Select the top result and see if any updates pop up in the window. Install them, restart the computer and try to use the scanner once more.

To check for new scanner drivers specifically, type device manager in the search box on the taskbar and open the top result. In Device Manager, locate your scanner and right-click. To find your device, you may need to expand the appropriate section by clicking the node icon in front of it. From the available options, select 'Update driver.' Pick the 'Search automatically for drivers' to let Windows try and find a more recent driver version or the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option if you have already downloaded a more recent driver version from the official manufacturer of your scanner.
