Issue Instant Hotspot Not Working on Mac

Instant Hotspot Not Working on Mac

Instant Hotspot is a more specialized version of the Personal Hotspot feature and it is available for Apple devices only. In practice, it allows users to set a Personal Hotspot on their iPhone or iPad device and then connect to it a Mac, another iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, without the need to enter any passwords.

However, for the feature to work as intended, there are several requirements. First, all devices must be signed in to iCloud with the same Apple ID. Then, each device must have its Bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on. Finally, the carrier plan of the device providing the connection to the Internet must support the Personal Hotspot service. If everything is set up accordingly, but you are still encountering problems with Instant Hotspot, try the following solutions:

Restart the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

  1. On the Mac, go to the Control Center. It is located on the right side of the menu bar.
  2. Click on the Bluetooth icon and then on the Wi-Fi. This will disable them.
  3. Wait for a couple of settings and enable them back again.
  4. Move to the iOS device and swipe down from the top right side of the screen to open the quick menu.
  5. Click on the Bluetooth icon followed by the Wi-Fi icon to turn them off.
  6. Wait for a couple of seconds and turn the features back on.

Reset the Network Settings

Before proceeding, keep in mind that resetting the network settings on an iOS device will delete all saved passwords and Bluetooth devices.

  1. Go to the iOS device and open device settings.
  2. Locate and tap on 'General.'
  3. Find the 'Reset' option and tap on it.
  4. Now, tap on 'Reset Network Settings.' Enter your password, if required.
  5. Confirm the network reset.
