User Guides RegHunter 2 Additional Scanning Features

Additional Scanning Features

RegHunter integrates several advanced options designed to give power users additional control over the registry scan process.

Exclusions - If you would like to exclude a specific registry error from appearing in future scans, you can do so by right-clicking on the error in the Scan Results display, and then selecting the "Add an exclusion" option from the menu that appears. You can manage these user-added exclusions through the "Exclusion Manager" tab (under the "Scanner" section).

Go To Registry - RegHunter will also allow you to open the Windows Registry Editor at a specific key where a registry error was detected. To do so from the scan results view, just right click on the error you are interested in and select "Go to registry".

Custom Scan (1) - With the Custom Scan panel, you can save time by limiting your scan to specific areas of the registry. By clicking on the Custom Scan menu, you will be provided with the option of partitioning your scan by type.

You can select any of the following Scan Types (2):

  • Software Locations
  • File Extensions
  • Windows Fonts
  • Help and Resources
  • Shared DLLs
  • Registry Integrity
  • Shortcuts
  • Startup Programs
  • Temp Files
  • Add/Remove Programs
  • Custom Controls
  • History
  • Deep Scan
  • Obsolete Software
  • Browser Cache
  • Browsing History

As the scan progresses, the progress bar will increasingly fill. To stop any type of scan, simply click the "Stop Scan" button. A custom scan may take less time than a full scan would take, but may not catch some registry issues normally detected in a full scan.

To start a custom scan with RegHunter, click the "Start Custom Scan" (3) button after you have selected specific Scan Types.
