ResponseIntellect is a dubious application that aims to sneak its way onto users' Mac systems. Indeed, it is extremely unlikely for users to install the application willingly. Instead, it is believed to be spread through dubious software bundles or fake installers. Applications relying on such underhanded tactics are classified as PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs). In addition, an analysis of ResponseIntellect has revealed that the application is connected to the AdLoad family.
AdLoad applications are designed to generate proceed for their operators via intrusive methods. More specifically, these applications can be equipped with the functionality of adware, browser hijackers and even both at the same time. ResponseIntellect displays a preference for acting as adware, but its exact behavior may be dependent on specific factors, such as the device's IP address, geolocation, macOS type, Web browser type and more.
Adware applications are specifically designed to run intrusive ad campaigns. As a result, users will be subjected to annoying and unwanted advertisements of all kinds. The advertisements may contain offers to download other questionable applications or promote untrustworthy websites. Users can be redirected to online schemes, phishing pages, fake giveaways and other suspicious destinations.
