qbtex Ransomware

By GoldSparrow in Ransomware

The qbtex Ransomware is a newly discovered ransomware threat, which emerged around the middle of May 2019. The qbtex Ransomware appears to be yet another variant of the infamous Crysis Ransomware (also called Dharma Ransomware).

It is believed that this file-locking Trojan is being spread via pirated software, spam emails that contain an infected attachment, and bogus software updates. Once the qbtex Ransomware sneaks into your PC, expect trouble. This nasty threat would scan your entire system in search of the file types it was programmed to target. When identified and located, these files will undergo encryption. After your files have gone through the qbtex Ransomware's encryption process, you will no longer be able to use them. Furthermore, the qbtex Ransomware changes the name of the affected files by applying a certain pattern, which is a signature move of the Dharma Ransomware variants - '.id-.[1btc@decryption.biz].qbtex.' When this step of the attack is completed, the qbtex Ransomware will proceed to drop a ransom note. It is speculated that the authors of the qbtex Ransomware may demand 1 Bitcoin (approximately $7,340 at the time of writing this article) as a ransom fee, but this has not yet been confirmed. The attackers provide the user with an email – 1btc@decryption.biz.

People like the ones responsible for the qbtex Ransomware are not someone you want to mess with or put your trust in. They will lie and lie, try to convince you that once you pay the sum demanded you will get all your data back, but this is rarely the case. We strongly recommend you not to contact the attackers and throw your money at them. A much safer approach is to clear your computer from this nasty threat by employing a trustworthy anti-malware application.
