Ooss Ransomware

The Ooss Ransomware is a potent malware threat, designed to encrypt files and then extort its victims for money. The threat is a variant from the infamous STOP/Djvu Ransomware family, but that doesn't prevent it from being incredibly threatening. The Ooss Ransomware follows the typical STOP/Djvu behavior. It appends the name of every encrypted file with a new file extension - '.ooss' in this case, and then drops a ransom note on the compromised machine in the form of a text file named '_readme.txt.'

Ooss Ransomware's Demands

Again, exactly as it should be expected from a STOP/Djvu variant, the Ooss Ransomware states that its operators demand to receive a ransom of exactly $980. However, if victims are to reach out and establish contact within the first 72 hours following the attack, the price will supposedly be decreased by 50% to $490.

The ransom note mentions two email addresses that can be used as communication channels - 'helpdatarestore@firemail.cc' and 'helpmanager@mail.ch.' It also clarifies that victims can send a single file to the hackers that will be unlocked for free and returned.
