Nury Ransomware

The Nury Ransomware is a malware threat that could cause significant damage to the devices it infects. The threat is equipped with a powerful encryption algorithm and it can impact a wide range of file types - documents, archives, databases, PDFs, images, photos and many others. All affected files will no longer be accessible or usable in any way.

Attack Details

The encryption process of the threat will lock most of the data stored on the victim's device. All locked files will be marked via the addition of '.nury' to their original names as a new file extension. A text file named '_readme.txt' carrying a ransom note will be dropped on the device, as well. Inside the text file, victims will find a set of instructions.

According to the ransom-demanding message, the threat actors want to be paid a ransom of $980. In exchange, they will apparently send back a decryptor tool and the necessary decryption tools. Victims who message the two email addresses of the attackers - 'support@fishmail.top' and 'datarestorehelp@airmail.cc,' within 72 hours of the Nuis Ransomware infection will receive a 50% discount. Of course, trusting the words of cybercrminals could not be a wise decision. There is absolutely nothing stopping the hackers from taking the money and running away, leaving their victims with few options.
