NavigateSystem's main purpose is to get installed on users' Mac devices and then monetize its presence by running an intrusive ad campaign. NavigateSystem is another dubious application belonging to the AdLoad adware family. Applications such as this one are rarely downloaded and installed intentionally. Instead, in the vast majority of cases, they sneak their way onto the device by hiding inside suspicious software bundles or through fake installers/updates.
The exact behavior of the application may be contingent on a series of factors, such as the device's IP address, geolocation, browser type and more. Typically, adware applications, such as NavigateSystem will be responsible for the delivery of unwanted banners, surveys, pop-ups, in-text links and other advertisements. Users could be presented with offers to install seemingly innocuous software programs that could have adware or browser hijacker functions. The advertisements also may promote untrustworthy websites running various schemes, fake giveaways, phishing tactics or even spreading malware.
At the same time, NavigateSystem may be spying on the browsing activities conducted on the device silently. The application could be monitoring and transmitting the user's browsing history, search history and clicked URLs. Included in the harvested data could be numerous device details or even sensitive information, such as banking and payment data taken from the user's Web browsers.
