MotionCycle is a dubious and intrusive application targeting Mac users. Analysis of the application has revealed that it falls into the adware category and is part of the AdLoad adware family. To avoid allowing such applications or other PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) inside their computers or devices, users should be careful when installing applications from unfamiliar sources. After all, a common tactic used by the developers of such applications is to spread them via software bundles.

Once activated on the Mac, MotionCycle is likely to start delivering various unwanted applications that could drastically impact the user experience. The advertisements could appear as pop-ups, banners, in-text links, etc. More importantly, users should be extra careful when dealing with advertisements generated by questionable sources. The advertisements could be for dubious destinations, such as fake giveaways, phishing portals or platforms dedicated to the distribution of additional PUPs.

Users also should keep in mind that these invasive applications could be equipped with data-tracking functionalities. It is not uncommon for PUPs to spy on the browsing activities carried out on the device. They may harvest numerous device details, as well, and exfiltrate them to a remote server controlled by their operators. It is strongly recommended to remove all PUPs present on the device, preferably with a professional security solution, to minimize any potential privacy or security risks.
