Markets Adware

The Markets Adware is a dubious application that is being distributed through questionable methods. Indeed, infosec researchers have observed the application being included in ISO files downloaded from suspicious Web pages. This behavior is one of the typical characteristics associated with PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs). However, when installed, Markets also reveals that it is adware designed to deliver various, intrusive advertisements to users. While it is active on the system, users will find an unfamiliar item named 'Markets tech Copyright © 2022' among the active processes listed in the Task Manager.

Adware applications are designed to generate monetary gains for their operators by running an intrusive advertising campaign. That is why users are likely to be frequently interrupted by unwanted advertisements. More importantly, the shown advertisements will typically promote various phishing or technical support tactics, fake giveaways or other untrustworthy websites. The advertisements also may promote additional PUPs disguised as seemingly real software products.

Users should keep in mind that most PUPs are equipped with additional capabilities as well. They could easily have data-harvesting features that will access users' browsing history, search history, clicked URLs, IP address, geolocation, and other, sensitive data and transmit it to a remote server controlled by their operators.
