The Magic PC Cleaner software is developed by a company named Softfix Solutions Pvt. Ltd., which is based in Gurugram, India. Magic PC Cleaner is presented to Windows users as an optimization utility that is supposed to fix and remove errors from the system with the aim to improve your computer's performance. The homepage for the Magic PC Cleaner program can be found at Softfix.com/Products.aspx, and the marketing pitch for the software reads:
'Magic PC Cleaner is the most advanced PC cleaner to take care of your day to day computer's general issues. It is the lightest and the fastest PC cleaner that installs itself in no time and gives you a round the clock proctection from junk files, cookies, system errors, browser related errors and clear your prefetch data.'
The lack of proper proofread and valid digital certificate for the site should make most users suspicious of the nature and origin of the program. Also, the site claims there are three reviews and a 4-star rating for the program, but there is no content to back up these statements. Computer experts that tested the Magic PC Cleaner program alert that it does not perform very well and the app shows false positives. When the Magic PC Cleaner app was installed on a clean installation of Windows for testing purposes, the scan results showed that there were nearly a thousand errors related to browsing the Internet, around two hundred problems with the OS, and more than a hundred "advanced" errors detected. The overall result pointed at "Damage Level - High" and the user is suggested to buy a premium license for 29.95 USD. The license grants the user to benefit from the complete functionality of Magic PC Cleaner for one year and subscribe to recurring payments of 28.10 USD for each month after one year is past.
The Magic PC Cleaner software is classified as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP), which might be flagged as PUP.Optional.MagicPCCleaner by AV engines. Magic PC Cleaner does not appear to be more effective than the built-in cleanup tools in Windows and most Web browsers. Consequently, it may not be the best idea to pay 29.95 USD for Magic PC Cleaner. Users that installed Magic PC Cleaner reported that the app might show pop-ups after booting up, which feature an invitation to buy a license. You may want to use a reliable security tool to delete all data associated with Magic PC Cleaner safely.
