LegionSuites is an intrusive application that targets Mac users. Dubious programs, such as this one, are very rarely distributed through normal channels, as users are highly unlikely to download and install them willingly. Instead, the operators of these applications often add them to shady software bundles or even inside completely fake installers/updates. LegionSuites is a perfect example of such behavior because infosec researchers found the application being spread under the guise of an Adobe Flash Player installer. As a result, LegionSuites also is classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program).

When installed on the user's Mac, LegionSuites will activate its adware functionality and start generating various, unwanted and intrusive advertisements. The frequent pop-ups, notifications, and other advertisements, could be extremely disruptive and heavily impact the user experience on the affected device. More importantly, the delivered advertisements may promote questionable and untrustworthy destinations, software products and services.

It is not uncommon for adware applications to show advertisements for technical support and phishing tactics, fake giveaways, online betting/gaming platforms, additional PUPs presented as legitimate applications, etc. Users also should keep in mind that, at the same time, the installed PUPs could be performing additional actions in the background of the system.

After all, PUPs are notorious for monitoring the users' browsing activities by collecting the browsing history, search history, and clicked URLs. Depending on their specific programming, some PUPs also are capable of harvesting device details or even extracting sensitive account credentials, banking info and payment details from browses' autofill data.
