GreatDefender or Great Defender, is a rogue anti-spyware application that belongs to the WinPC Defender family. GreatDefender does not have the ability to detect and remove actual computer parasites from a PC. Instead, GreatDefender was created to trick computer users into purchasing a full version of the GreatDefender program. These tactics include the initiation of system scans the return false results and the greeting of several misleading popup messages that attempt to warn computer users of detected parasites. The most discerning thing about GreatDefender is that it may be automatically installed without a computer user's permission through a Trojan horse parasite.
GreatDefender is not much different from other fake security programs that are part of its family such as WinPC Defender, SystemDefender, IE Defender, IE Defender, XPdefender, WinDefender2008, PC Privacy Defender, Malware Defender 2009, Smart Defender Pro, Ultimate Defender, Advanced XP Defender, Security Defender Pro 2015.
