Getgadgets.online is a rogue website that is likely to present its visitors with a phishing scheme. When examined by cybersecurity experts, the site was observed to display a fake message, pretending to be from Netflix. The dubious site tries to convince visitors that they have been chosen to win an exclusive gift.
According to the description, this giveaway takes place every Tuesday when 50 lucky winners are chosen. However, to receive their promised prize, users must complete a short survey. To put further pressure on its visitors, the site also mentions that they have just a limited amount of time to complete the survey and remain eligible for the reward.
Of course, as is typically the case with phishing tactics, all the claims made by Getgadgets.online are completely fake. There is no prize and Netflix is in no way connected to the rogue website. Instead, the fraudsters are likely trying to obtain sensitive information from their victims. The survey could ask personal questions, while at the end the site could pretend that it needs shipping information for the prize. Users may be asked to provide their names, phone numbers, home addresses, emails and more. Alternatively, the con artists could claim that a shipping or another fee must be paid.
Dubious websites, such as Getgadgets.online, also may try to convince visitors to subscribe to their push notifications. The notifications coming from these hoax pages usually take the form of unwanted advertisements for additional questionable destinations. Users are likely to receive advertisements for phishing portals, shady adult-oriented sites, pages spreading invasive adware, browser hijackers, PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs), etc.
