Flowerself.xyz is a rogue website propagating one of the most popular browser-based online tactics. Like so many of the countless other dubious pages of this type, Flowerself.xyz also exploits the legitimate push notifications feature to deliver unwanted advertisements to users and generate monetary gains for its operators in the process. This scam relies on tricking users into pressing the displayed 'Allow' button by hiding the true intentions of the site behind various false scenarios.
The exact messages that users may encounter on the deceiving webpage could vary, based on certain factors, such as their specific IP address or geolocation. Still, one of the most frequently encountered scenarios consists of the dubious website pretending that users must pass a CAPTCHA check with messages such as 'Press Allow to verify that you are not a robot.' Flowerself.xyz has been observed using a similar tactic. The site claims that users have to 'Click Allow to continue,' implying that its content is available only after pressing the button.
What users may not realize is that the 'Allow' button has totally different functionality and clicking it will enable the page's push notification. This will give Flowerself.xyz the necessary browser permissions to start delivering various, intrusive advertisements to the device. Users risk being presented with advertisements for additional unsafe websites, fake giveaways, annoying PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs), etc.
