Eyrv Ransomware

The Eyrv Ransomware is another variant from the STOP/Djvu malware family. As a whole, the threat is almost an exact copy of the other variants from this family. However, this fact should not mislead users into thinking that Eyrv is any less threatening. Once delivered to the targeted computers, the threat can easily lock the information stored there via an encryption routine.

Victims will notice that each affected file now has '.eyrv' attached to its original name as a new extension. In addition, a new text file named '_readme.txt' will be created on the compromised device. This file is tasked with carrying a ransom note with instructions for the victim.

Ransom Note's Overview

Opening the text file reveals that Eyrv Ransomware's message follows the typical pattern established by other STOP/Djvu threats. Users are told that to receive a decryption tool and key from the attackers, they would need to pay a ransom of $980. However, if they reach out and message the hackers within the first 72 hours, the amount they will need to pay will be 50% less at $490.

The Eyrv Ransomware leaves two emails as potential ways to reach the cybercriminals. The main address is 'support@sysmail.ch,' while the second email at 'supportsys@airmail.cc' is relegated to a backup role. As part of their messages, users can send one locked file to be decrypted for free. The only condition mentioned in the note is that the chosen file must not contain any important information.
