EasyMacSoft

EasyMacSoft is a dubious program equipped with both adware and browser hijacker functionalities. Typically, users do not install such programs willingly on their Mac devices. Far more often, the applications arrive there via questionable distribution methods, such as suspicious software bundles or fake program installers. In fact, EasyMacSoft has been observed to be spread via fake installers that pretend to be for Adobe Flash Player.

The primary purpose of an adware application is to deliver unwanted and annoying advertisements to its users. The advertisements delivered by these dubious applications are equally untrustworthy. They may promote or lead to various tactics, fake giveaways, pages trying to obtain sensitive information from visitors through phishing schemes and more. The advertisements could appear as banners, pop-ups, in-text links, etc., and could impact the browsing experience on the device severely.

On the other hand, browser hijackers are tasked with promoting a sponsored Web address by driving artificial traffic towards it. To achieve this task, the intrusive application takes over the user's Web browsers and modifies their settings. Usually, it affects the homepage, new tab page, and the default search engine and sets them to open a fake search engine page.

Users should be warned that fake engines do not deliver any results on their own as they lack such functionality completely. Instead, they redirect the initiated search to a valid search engine (Yahoo, Bing and Google) or a dubious one that could produce results filled with annoying ad links.
