Threat Database Mac Malware Corrupt app bundle

Corrupt app bundle

Mac users receiving a notification/alert prompt with the seemingly important message 'Corrupt app bundle - Script missing from application bundle' could be wondering how to proceed. After all, the alert provides little actionable information, as it doesn't mention the exact app bundle that has been deemed to be corrupt or malfunctioning. Not to mention that these prompts could be extremely disruptive with users reporting alerts appearing anywhere from every 15 minutes to once every 30 seconds. In these instances, it could be rather difficult to carry out any normal activities on the device.

The 'Corrupt app bundle' could be a sign of the presence of a faulty application or it could be caused by an intrusive PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) that has managed to get installed on the Mac. After all, in the vast majority of cases, PUPs are distributed with the help of questionable tactics, such as software bundles, fake installers/updates, etc. More importantly, once fully established on the Mac, these applications may activate browser hijacker, adware and even data-tracking functions.

Affected users may start noticing frequent unwanted browser redirects or the appearance of numerous, intrusive advertisements. Typically, browser hijackers are used as a promotional vehicle for fake search engines, while the generated advertisements could be for untrustworthy destinations (fake giveaways, phishing sites, technical support or other online schemes, etc.) and additional PUPs disguised as seemingly real applications.

To stop the 'Corrupt app bundle' from interfering with your Mac, it is strongly recommended to delete any recently installed applications. In addition, scan the entire system with a reputable security solution and let it safely remove any detected threats.
