CoordinatorOptimization

Infosec researchers have identified another intrusive application belonging to the AdLoad adware family. Tracked as CoordinatorOptimization, the application targets Mac users and tries to monetize its presence on their devices via questionable means. Furthermore, CoordinatorOptimization is likely a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Programs) that is being spread via dubious tactics to hide its installation from users' attention.

As an AdLoad application, CoordinatorOptimization is primarily concerned with generating monetary gains for its operators via an intrusive ad campaign. Adware applications are notorious for being responsible for the delivery of intrusive advertisements. While active on the Mac, users risk receiving advertisements promoting untrustworthy sites, online tactics, phishing portals, additional PUPs, etc.

At the same time, many PUPs perform additional intrusive actions in the background of the system. Infosec researchers warn that PUPs may be tracking users' browsing history, search history, clicked URLs and more. Some applications of this type even try to harvest confidential account details or banking information by accessing browsers' autofill data.
