EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecard
EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards are assessment reports for different malware threats which have been collected and analyzed by our research team. EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards evaluate and rank threats using several metrics including real-world and potential risk factors, trends, frequency, prevalence, and persistence. EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards are updated regularly based on our research data and metrics and are useful for a wide range of computer users, from end users seeking solutions to remove malware from their systems to security experts analyzing threats.
EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards display a variety of useful information, including:
Ranking: The ranking of a particular threat in EnigmaSoft’s Threat Database.
Severity Level: The determined severity level of an object, represented numerically, based on our risk modeling process and research, as explained in our Threat Assessment Criteria.

The number of dubious Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs) that aim to take advantage of Mac users is continuing to grow. ConnectProcess is that application type. Its main functionalities include delivering unwanted advertisements to Mac users and making equally unwanted modifications to their Web browsers to promote a fake search engine. In short, the application acts as both adware and a browser hijacker.
The advertisements generated by this intrusive application can impact the user experience on the device severely. They can appear on unrelated websites and take the form of banners, pop-ups, in-text links and more. However, more importantly, the advertisements should be regarded as extremely risky. They could promote additional dubious programs or cause redirects to shady hoax websites.
At the same time, the homepage, new page tab, and the default search engine of the installed Web browsers will be set by ConnectProcess to open an unfamiliar website. Browser hijackers such as this one are a common occurrence when it comes to promoting fake search engines that cannot produce any results.
The search queries of the users will likely be redirected to a different engine mostly. In the case of a legitimate one, there should be little reason to worry. It is entirely possible that the results presented to the user may include various unrelated sponsored advertisements and links if they were taken from an untrustworthy and dubious search engine.
