Boostertools.org

Boostertools.org is a dubious website that can conduct various deceptive activities designed to manipulate the user. Visitors that land on it can be presented with various advertising materials for an application called Mac Cleanup Pro. Even if the promoted application is legitimate, users should never rely on promotional materials found on suspicious websites around the Web.

Furthermore, it extremely unlikely for anyone to land on Boostertools.org willingly. Instead, users are taken there through forced redirects caused by other dubious Web pages. If the redirects to Boostertools.org are far too frequent, that may be a sign that a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) has managed to sneak and install itself on the user's computer. PUPs are spread through methods designed to hide the installation of the application from the user. Two of the most popular techniques are bundling and fake software installers/updaters. The bundling technique sees the installation of the PUP being hidden under the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' settings of the installation process of another freeware application.

While PUPs cannot cause any damage to the system directly, they are still considered a security weakness and as such should be removed as soon as possible. Not to mention, that the vast majority of PUPs are capable of harvesting certain private user data that could then potentially be sold to third parties. The collected information may include the search history, browsing history, IP address, geolocation, clicked URLs, etc.
