AuraLookup

AuraLookup is another intrusive PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) targeted at Mac users. PUPs are rarely distributed through normal channels, as the likelihood of users downloading and installing them willingly is extremely low. Instead, they are spread through questionable tactics, such as software bundles or fake installers.

Once established on the Mac, AuraLookup will be activated and begin delivering annoying advertisements to users. The shown advertisements should be approached with caution, as they can lead to or promote dubious destinations, such as hoax websites, phishing pages, fake giveaways, etc. Users also are likely to encounter enticing offers for seemingly legitimate software products. Unfortunately, the advertised applications turn out to be more PUPs once installed.

PUPs also are notorious for spying on the browsing activities carried out on the device. Users risk having their browsing history, search history, clicked websites, IP address, geolocation, and many other details, being continuously transmitted to a remote server controlled by the PUP's operators.
