Allowpcprotect.com is a hoax website that is running the rather popular 'Your PC is Infected with 5 viruses!' scheme. Sites dedicated to this particular tactic pretend as if they are showing legitimate malware warnings, coming from established security vendors. In this particular case, Allowpcprotect.com imitates the design of the McAfee anti-malware program.
Users who land on the page will be greeted by a pop-up with deceptive and fake warnings. The con page also will imitate running a scan for malware threats, which is a functionality that no website can possess on its own. Not surprisingly, the fake security scan always finds that the user's device has been infected with 5 viruses (hence the name of this scheme). The goal of Allowpcprotect.com's operators is to scare the unsuspecting users into buying a subscription for the chosen product. Although the application itself is real, the fraudsters aim to earn revenue through the illegitimate commission fees based on each sale carried out via their dubious website.
The messages that Allowpcprotect.com could display may be similar to:
'McAfee
Your PC is infected with 5 viruses!
ACTION REQUIRED!'
'Your Norton Subscription Has Expired!
Renew now to keep your pc protected.
If your PC is unprotected, it is at risk for viruses and other malware.'
