Alertsx.com is a deceptive Web page created for a singular purpose - to proliferate a popular browser-based tactic. It joins the countless other such sites that have already been flooding the Internet such as Pushcleantools.com, Fast-datings.top, Akaiksots.com and many more.
All of these con pages operate in a virtually identical manner. They show manipulative and clickbait messages to their visitors to trick them into unknowingly subscribing to the page's push notification services by clicking the 'Allow' button. Depending on the visitor's geolocation, the deceptive site may also cause unwanted redirects to other equally as shady pages. Users may be taken to phishing pages, fake giveaways, suspicious online game platforms, or domains spreading various PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs).
Alertsx.com has been observed to employ the most common scenario used by these hoax websites - it pretends to be doing a CAPTCHA check for bots. Users will see an image with several robots accompanied by a variation of the following message:
'Click ALLOW to confirm that you are not a robot'
If successful, Alertsx.com will abuse its browser privileges to deliver annoying and intrusive advertisements via the affected Web browser. The generated advertisements should be approached with caution, as they may employ identical deceptive tactics to lure users into engaging with them.
It is recommended to stop Alertsx.com from interfering with your online activities as soon as possible. Usually, all that it takes is to revoke the permissions unwittingly granted to the con page. Depending on your particular browser, you may need to locate the 'Permissions' or 'Notifications' settings.
