Threat Database Ransomware Ziggy Ransomware

Ziggy Ransomware

The Ziggy Ransomware Ransomware is a potent malware threat. The Ziggy Ransomware Ransomware operates as typical ransomware without any major deviations. The Ziggy Ransomware tries to infect users' computers, after which it initiates an encryption routine that nearly all stored files with an uncrackable cryptographic algorithm.

The files affected by the Ziggy Ransomware Ransomware will have their names modified significantly. The threat appends to the original filename a unique victim ID designation, an email address that belongs to the hackers and finally '.ziggy' as a new file extension. The email used in the filenames is 'lilmoon1@criptext.com,' and it serves as the primary communication channel. As for the ransom note with instructions, unlike the vast majority of ransomware threats, Ziggy Ransomware delivers it inside an executable file and not a text file. Named '## HOW TO DECRYPT ##.exe,' this executable file will be created in every folder containing encrypted data.

Starting the file will display the eternity of the ransom note. Although no specific sum is mentioned, the note does state that the ransom demanded by the hackers must be paid using Bitcoin. To receive additional details, affected users are instructed to send a message to the aforementioned 'lilmoon1@criptext.com' address. If they do not answer within 12 hours, they should then initiate contact through the secondary email address at 'lilmoon0@criptext.com.' Some files (up to five) that do not exceed a total of 4MB can be coupled with the messages to be decrypted for free.

It is never a good idea to send any amount of money to malware creators. There are no ways to know if the hackers will honor their end of the deal. Not to mention that the fund they receive will most likely be used to fund their next threatening operation.
