Threat Database Browser Hijackers Your-home-page.net

Your-home-page.net

The Your-home-page.net address is being promoted via dubious and underhanded tactics, such as a browser hijacker application. It also can be included as part of the installation settings of another software product and users who do not pay enough attention could absent-mindedly agree to its terms. This behavior classifies the app as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program).

The consequences of having the browser hijacker installed on your system are numerous. First, the promoted address will be added as the new homepage and the default search engine of the user's Web browser. However, more troubling is the fact that the argument 'http://your-home-page.net/' will be appended to the shortcuts you have on your Desktop, as well as the Windows Start Menu. Starting a modified shortcut will result in the page being opened automatically in the browser.

PUPs usually have additional unwanted behaviors, as well. These applications are known for spying on the browsing activities carried out via the affected browser. Users risk having their browsing history, search history, clicked links, and device details (IP address, geolocation, and more) collected and then uploaded to a remote server. To avoid such outcomes, users should always pay attention when installing new applications, especially if they come from unproven sources.
