'Your Device Apple iPhone Has Been Hacked' Pop-Up Scam

The fraudsters are targeting iPhone users with deceptive security warnings. The goal of the 'Your Device Apple iPhone Has Been Hacked' scheme is to use fakes cares and convince users into downloading a promoted application. Typically, frauds of this type are used as a way to spread various adware, browser hijackers, and other applications classified as PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs).

The scheme is propagated by rogue websites. When users land on such a page, they would be immediately presented with a pop-up window claiming that their iPhone has been compromised by hackers. The attackers can supposedly now monitor all activities carried out on the device. If users close this window, a new pop-up will immediately take its place. This time the con artists will make a different claim:

'Your device Apple iPhone has been hacked'

'Your device needs to repair immediately. Otherwise your Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram data will be compromised.'

The background page of the tactic is designed to appear as a 'AppleCare Plus/ Protection System' settings list. It displays multiple, sensitive data categories followed by a 'Repair now' button. When the button is clicked, it will take users to the application promoted via the fraud.

When dealing with schemes such as 'Your Device Apple iPhone Has Been Hacked,' it is important to remember that no website is capable of performing system or threat scans on its own. As such, all of the claims made by the page should be regarded as entirely fake. Furthermore, the Apple company has no connection to this scheme and the con artists are simply exploiting the name, logo, and interface design of the AppleCare Plus/Protection System.
