YixSpeedUp

YixSpeedUp is a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) that tries to lure users into buying its premium version. The application presents itself as a system optimizer that will help users boost the performance of their computers by eliminating various issues, such as invalid startup and system entries, invalid or corrupted DLLs or any broken internal links.

Unfortunately, the results presented by YixSpeedUp cannot be fully trusted, as they may include false positives in an attempt to convince users to buy the paid version. After all, the application will not let you fix the detected issues, even if they were real, without paying.

The potentially non-existent issues detected by the application are not the only questionable aspect of YixSpeedUp. As we said, the program is a PUP which entails that it is not distributed using the normal channels you might expect. Instead, it relies on misleading and deceptive tactics that hide its installation from the user's attention. In particular, users have been reporting that the application was delivered on their systems while they were installing dubious Minecraft shaders.

PUPs are often equipped with additional intrusive functionalities, such as data collection. They might be spying on the user's browsing activities and collecting the browsing and search histories. Device details, such as IP address and geolocation, also could be included in the harvested data. The acquired information is then transmitted to a remote server under the control of the PUP's operators.
