Ygkz Ransomware

Cybercriminals are still pumping out more and more variants based on the STOP/Djvu Ransomware threat. Every file encrypted by the Ygkz Ransomware will have '.ygkz' appended to its original filename as a new extension. When the encryption process has concluded, the threat will drop its ransom note with instructions for the victims. The note will be contained inside text files named '_readme.txt.'

According to the instructions, victims of the Ygkz Ransomware will have to pay the sum of $980 to the cybercriminals if they want to receive the decryption key and software tool that could potentially restore their locked files. That is a significant amount of money for individual users to have laying around and it seems that the hackers also realize this fact. They offer to slash the ransom in half to $490 if the users affected by the Ygkz Ransomware initiate communication within the first 72 hours following the ransomware attack. The ransom note provides two email addresses that can be used as communication channels - the primary email is 'helpteam@mail.ch' while the reserve address is 'helpmanager@airmail.cc.'
