As it is happening almost daily, a new ransomware threat based on the extremely prolific STOP/Djvu Ransomware family was uncovered by security experts. Named the Xcvf Ransomware, the new threat can be very harmful to the infected machine and its user since it will choose the most crucial files, encrypt them by using the most powerful encryption methods available and then ask the victims to pay a ransom if they want to get their data back. As with all versions of the STOP/Djvu Ransomware members, the Xcvf Ransomware asks for the amount of $980 as a ransom fee. However, victims have the alternative of contacting the criminals promptly and getting a 50% of discount.
When the Xcvf Ransomware is active inside the targeted computer, it will scan your machine looking for images, crucial documents and files. As soon as the Xcvf Ransomware localize these files, it will encrypt them and change their extensions to '.xcvf', so that you are no longer able to open your most precious data.
