The Word Surfer application may be offered to you as a browser helper that can improve your searches on Google and Bing, but security researchers recognize it as adware. The Word Surfer app falls in the same category as Dig Deep and MarkingApp and may read your Internet browsing and download logs to conduct behavioral marketing. The Word Surfer adware is designed to use a background service to display advertisements in your browser, and it might not appear in your extensions manager and 'Programs and Features' module. The Word Surfer adware may load marketing content on banners, floating ad boxes, inline ads, pop-up and pop-under windows. Additionally, the Word Surfer adware has a built-in updater that will be registered with the Windows Task Scheduler to download updates automatically.
