WebSearchSport

WebSearchSport is a browser hijacker application that is used to promote and boost the traffic towards the address of a fake search engine artificially The promoted address in this case is feed.websearchsport.com. Users should generally avoid using unproven search engines for their search queries. WebSearchSport is not an exception, as it lacks the capacity to produce any results on its own. It, however, takes the user's searches and redirects them to 'nearbyme.io', another dubious engine. Ultimately, the results shown to the user could be riddled with third-party ad links and prove to be mostly unreliable.

While the WebSearchSport app is present on the system, it will control the settings of the user's Web browser. More specifically, browser hijackers target the homepage, new tab page and the default search engine. The application also will ensure that the modified settings will stay this way by preventing users from reverting them to their original states.

Browser hijackers and other PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) are often equipped with data-collecting capabilities. The applications spy on the user's browsing activities and collect various data. Information such as all opened sites, clicked URLs, and the entire search history could be uploaded to a remote server. Even device details such as the IP address, geolocation, ISP, and more, could also be accessed.

To minimize the potential risks they might face, users are strongly encouraged to get rid of all PUPs that are installed on their system. Keep in mind that some of these applications establish persistence mechanisms and could return if they are not removed completely. To avoid such outcomes, try using a professional security solution to clean your computer.
