WebSearchPDF

WebSearchPDF poses as a convenient tool that will enhance and improve the way users search the Web. Unfortunately, this is not the main purpose of the application, as, in reality, it is just another browser hijacker. Most users do not realize that such applications are being installed on their computers or devices. Indeed, the applications rely heavily on questionable techniques, such as bundling or fake software installers to spread themselves.

If it is installed successfully, WebSearchPDF will assume control over the user's Web browser. In this typical case, the dubious application will modify the homepage, new tab page and the default search engine settings. The site these settings will be forced to open - (feed.websearchpdf.com), belongs to a fake search engine. Fake engines do not produce any results on their own. They take the user's search queries and redirect them through a legitimate engine such as Yahoo, Bing or Google.

Another intrusive functionality often found in such PUPs is data-tracking. The user's browsing activities may be monitored, packaged, and then transmitted to a remote server under the control of the hackers. The information may include the entire browsing history, search history, clicked URLs, as well as numerous device details (IP address, geolocation, ISP, etc.).
