OS(es) Affected: Windows is a rogue website, that relies on deceptive and manipulative materials to take advantage of its visitors. The particular variant that users may encounter on the page, could be determined based on multiple factors, including their IP address, geolocation, device type and possibly more. When cybersecurity researchers analyzed the page, they were presented with a variant of the 'Your PC is infected with 5 viruses!' tactic.

In this tactic, the untrustworthy website tries to convince users that their computers are infected with several malware threats. The page will even show a pop-up window with the results of a supposed threat scan of the device. Of course, no website is capable of performing such scans on its own. To make the false alerts and security warnings seem more urgent, pretends as if they are coming from the cybersecurity company McAfee Corp. Users should remember that no reputable developers or publishers ever resort to using rogue websites as part of the promotion of their products.

As such, the likely goal of the people behind is to earn illegitimate commission fees, based on the transactions carried out via the dubious page. Rogue websites of this type also may be spreading annoying PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs). Once installed on the system, these PUPs could activate a host of intrusive functions and act as adware, browser hijackers and even data trackers.
