Vtym Ransomware
After analyzing the Vtym Ransomware threat, cybersecurity researchers have come to the conclusion that is a variant belonging to the notorious STOP/Djvu malware family. The note dropped by the Vtym Ransomware is effectively identical to the ones observed with other STOP/Djvu threats. It states that the hackers demand to be paid a ransom of $980 if they are to assist in the restoration of the locked files by sending a decryption tool and key. However, victims can lower that price by 50% if they contact the attackers at any point during the first 72 hours of the Vtym infection.
According to the ransom-demanding message, two email addresses can be utilized as communication channels. The main one is 'support@sysmail.ch' while 'supportsys@airmail.cc' is relegated to a backup address. Affected users can attach one file to their message that the attackers are supposedly going to decrypt and return for absolutely free.
