Threat Database Ransomware Vlff Ransomware

Vlff Ransomware

The Vlff Ransomware is a malware threat created by using the infamous STOP/Djvu Ransomware family as a basis, classifying it as a variant belonging to that family. Despite mostly lacking any meaningful improvements from the rest of the variants from the STOP Djvu Ransomware family, users should be wise not to underestimate the destructive potential of the Vlff Ransomware. Once inside their computers, the threat can easily lock nearly all of the data stored there.

Victims will find that they can no longer access their documents, pictures, archives, databases, PDFs and more. Each encrypted file will now have '.vlff' added to its original name as a new extension. Users also will notice a text file that previously did not exist on the system. Its name should be '_readme.txt' and carries the ransom note of the threat.

Ransom Note's Overview

The note delivered by the Vlff Ransowmare can be considered a copy of the typical STOP/Djvu ransom demanding message. It reveals that victims are expected to pay a ransom of $980 if they want to receive the decryption tool and key that the hackers possess. The typical offer to cut the demanded sum in half also is present here - victims who establish contact with the hackers at any point during the first 72 hours will supposedly only need to pay $490.

The two email addresses that can serve as communication channels according to the ransom note are 'support@sysmail.ch' and 'helprestoremanager@airmail.cc.' As part of their message, Vlff Ransomware's victims are allowed to attach a single encrypted file. The cybercriminals are expected to unlock and return it for free as a demonstration of their ability to restore all of the encrypted data.
